Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

Manastra is a personal affirmation and intention app. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to the information you enter.

The short version. Almost everything you write stays on your phone — including your name and the names of your children and the people close to you. An account is optional: the app works fully without one, and if you create one we store your sign-in details on our server and nothing else — never your profile, never your ritual data. When affirmations or coach replies are generated, only anonymized signals leave the device: things like your focus areas, your mood and an age range. Your phone fills the real names into the text afterwards. The coach chat is the exception — there, the messages you type are sent. We do not sell your data and we run no advertising or analytics trackers.

1. What stays on your device

The following is stored only in the app's local storage on your phone. It is not uploaded anywhere, is not backed up to us, and disappears when you reset the app or uninstall it:

2. Your account — optional

Manastra works completely without an account. No feature is locked behind signing in, and you can skip it forever. If you do create one, this is exactly what we hold on our server, and nothing else:

Your profile and your ritual data are not uploaded. Your name, your children, the people you added, your star map, your favourites and your chat history stay on your phone, exactly as described in section 1. Signing in on a new phone gives you your account back — not your data.

An account exists so that your subscription and your identity survive a new phone. That is its only purpose.

3. What is sent off the device, and why

To write affirmations that fit your life, the app calls our server at astra.melberlabs.com, which forwards the request to the Gemini API operated by Google. Only anonymized signals are sent — never the fields that identify you:

What is never sent: your name, your children's names or ages, the names of important people, your city, your occupation, your gender identity, your sexual orientation. Nor device identifiers, your contacts, GPS coordinates, your photos or any advertising ID.

Personalization still works, because the names are filled in here. The AI writes with placeholders — {name}, {person} — and your phone replaces them with the real names before you read the text. The names themselves never leave your device.

The coach chat is the exception. When you talk to the coach, the messages you type are sent — that is what the feature is. Your profile still travels as the anonymized signals above, but your own words reach the AI service exactly as you wrote them.

A random installation identifier. From version 1.0.1, coach requests also carry a random code the app creates the first time it opens. It is not derived from your device, your account or any advertising ID, and it is not combined with anything else. Our server uses it only to count today's coach messages (to limit abuse, at most about 50 a day), keeps it in memory for no longer than that day and never logs it. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

Our server keeps a generated deck in memory for up to 26 hours, indexed by an irreversible hash, so that opening the app repeatedly in one day does not regenerate it. Nothing is written to a database on our side, and chat messages are not stored on our server at all.

4. The AI service we use

We use the Gemini API through Google's paid service. Under Google's terms for that service, Google does not use your prompts or the responses to improve its products, and processes them as our data processor. Google keeps them for a limited period only to detect and prevent misuse and for legally required disclosures, and they may be processed in any country where Google operates.

On top of that, the app anonymizes before it sends. What reaches Google carries no name, no address, no occupation and no one else's identity — it is a short list of preferences and an age range that could belong to a great many people.

The coach chat only opens after you agree to this in the app, and you can withdraw that consent at any time in Settings → Privacy. Your messages are sent as you type them, so do not write anything you would not want to leave your phone. If a message suggests you may be in crisis, the app (from version 1.0.1) answers on your phone with support contacts and does not send it; older versions send it to our server, which answers the same way without passing it to Google.

5. What we never collect

Our web server keeps ordinary technical logs — IP address, timestamp, which endpoint was called — for a short period, to keep the service running and to block abuse. They are not linked to your profile and are not used to build a picture of you.

6. Notifications

The daily reminder is scheduled locally by your phone at the hour you choose. It is not a push notification and no server is involved. Permission is only requested at the end of onboarding or when you switch reminders on, and you can revoke it any time in system settings.

7. Deleting your data and your account

On your phone: open Settings → Reset App. This permanently erases your profile, star map, favourites and chat history from the device. Uninstalling has the same effect.

Your account: open Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, your sign-in identities and every one of your sessions — immediately, from inside the app, with no waiting period and no copy kept. If you only want to leave this device, use Sign out instead; that ends the session here and leaves everything on the phone untouched.

8. Children

Manastra is not directed at children. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, please use the app only with a parent or guardian.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data. Most of your data lives on your own device, so you can exercise those rights directly in the app. For the small amount tied to an account, Settings → Account → Delete account erases all of it. For anything else, write to us.

10. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, we will update this page and the date above, and note it in the app.
