Manastra

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 August 2026

Manastra is a personal affirmation and intention app. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to the information you enter.

The short version. Manastra has no accounts and no login. Almost everything you write stays on your phone — including your name and the names of your children and the people close to you. When affirmations or coach replies are generated, only anonymized signals leave the device: things like your focus areas, your mood and an age range. Your phone fills the real names into the text afterwards. The coach chat is the exception — there, the messages you type are sent. We do not sell your data and we run no advertising or analytics trackers.

1. What stays on your device

The following is stored only in the app's local storage on your phone. It is not uploaded anywhere, is not backed up to us, and disappears when you reset the app or uninstall it:

2. What is sent off the device, and why

To write affirmations that fit your life, the app calls our server at astra.melberlabs.com, which forwards the request to the Gemini API operated by Google. Only anonymized signals are sent — never the fields that identify you:

What is never sent: your name, your children's names or ages, the names of important people, your city, your occupation, your gender identity, your sexual orientation. Nor device identifiers, your contacts, GPS coordinates, your photos or any advertising ID.

Personalization still works, because the names are filled in here. The AI writes with placeholders — {name}, {person} — and your phone replaces them with the real names before you read the text. The names themselves never leave your device.

The coach chat is the exception. When you talk to the coach, the messages you type are sent — that is what the feature is. Your profile still travels as the anonymized signals above, but your own words reach the AI service exactly as you wrote them.

Our server keeps a generated deck in memory for up to 26 hours, indexed by an irreversible hash, so that opening the app repeatedly in one day does not regenerate it. Nothing is written to a database on our side, and chat messages are not stored on our server at all.

3. The AI service we use

We use the Gemini API on Google's free tier. Google's terms for that tier state that prompts sent and responses received may be reviewed by humans and used to improve and train Google's AI models. On the free tier we cannot switch that off.

That is precisely why the app anonymizes before it sends. What reaches Google carries no name, no address, no occupation and no one else's identity — it is a short list of preferences and an age range that could belong to a great many people.

For the coach chat, use your own judgement: because your messages are sent as you type them, do not write anything into the chat that you would not want a person at Google to read.

4. What we never collect

5. Notifications

The daily reminder is scheduled locally by your phone at the hour you choose. It is not a push notification and no server is involved. Permission is only requested at the end of onboarding or when you switch reminders on, and you can revoke it any time in system settings.

6. Deleting your data

Open Settings → Reset App. This permanently erases your profile, star map, favourites and chat history from the device. Uninstalling has the same effect. Because we store no user records, there is no separate account for us to delete.

7. Children

Manastra is not directed at children. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, please use the app only with a parent or guardian.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data. Because your data lives on your own device and we hold no user records, you can exercise all of these directly in the app. For anything else, write to us.

9. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, we will update this page and the date above, and note it in the app.
